Hormonal Treatment

My breast cancer is positive for both estrogen and progesterone receptors. This means that these hormones fuel the growth of cancer cells. To help keep my cancer at bay, I just began hormonal treatment today with the drug tamoxifen which works by blocking estrogen from estrogen receptors on cancer cells.

I am very grateful to have Dr David Riseberg as my oncologist. I appreciate his knowledge, thoughtfulness and deliberation in choosing treatments that work the best for my age and my lifestyle. Most of all, I appreciate that Dr Riseberg includes me in treatment choices and has never pressured me into treatments that I am uncomfortable with.
