Showing Kennie in AKC Confirmation events

This weekend was a blast. Kennie (Sunryze Poms Starting the Game FCAT2 FITG) won his first major towards his AKC championship with the help of professional handler Michelle Soave who showed him beautifully.

Kennie and I had been showing together for over a year and weren’t able to earn any points. We trained under several outstanding handlers and worked hard at home to perfect his show ring presentation.

Many dog show folks told me that Kennie is a worthy dog., but judges kept passing over him. We were getting frustrated because we knew he deserved better. Yesterday when Michelle won the major with Kennie, we cried. It was a moment we all yearned for.

Yesterday reminded me that hard work pays off , but having fun should be the main reason for showing dogs. Sadly, drama and poor sportsmanship outside the ring ruin it for everyone. I will not let the actions of a few prevent me from having fun with my dog and my friends. I will continue to show, rise above it, and enjoy each moment. Cancer teaches you what is really important.

I am so proud of Kennie and so grateful to Fernando Almeida, Sidney Freitas, and Donna Lynn Wright for bringing him into my life. Cancer made it impossible for me to have children. Kennie has filled that void and like any mother, I believe he deserves the best. I can’t wait to continue training and showing him. This past weekend Sunryze Poms Starting the Game FCAT2 FITG FDC aka Kennie earned his championship (pending AKC approval). He had a pretty unbelievable streak the past 8shows. Professional handler Michelle Soave and Kennie were undefeated with 2 Best of Breed wins over nationally ranked Pomeranians.

Kennie is a one in a million dog. The second he came home to my house he fit in and has made us smile and laugh everyday. Watching him grow and mature everyday has been a pleasure and can’t wait to see how he continues to grow. He is so special and I just want him to continue to have a blast with all of his activities

Thank you to @donnalynnwright56 for being a co-owner with me and for grooming him to look his absolute best every time he steps into the ring. Kennie loves you so much and loves anytime he sees you.

Thank you Michelle Soave for showing my special boy. You always make him look his best even when he wants to check out the girl behind him Kennie loves you so much especially when you give him treats he doesn’t get at home. So glad we have become closer the past couple of months.

Thank you to Nancy and Gary at DOTC for the weekly handling classes. Without that he couldn’t have gone in the ring with Michelle. This year will be about perfecting his showing for when he steps in the ring as a special with me

Thank you to all of his cheerleaders and people who saw his potential when he was just a puppy. We couldn’t have done it without you.
