Hair Journey
My hair journey has been very different over the past 8years. When I was first diagnosed I had long blonde hair. I wasn’t upset about loosing my hair due to chemo. I shaved it and never looked back at my decision as regret. My frustrations would come over the next couple of years. My hair started to grow in very curly. I never had curly hair before so I had no idea how to manage it. It just kept growing but because the curls were tight I wasn’t getting any length. My hair dresser thinned it out and it was finally growing down but at a snails pace due to my nonstop maintenance treatments.
Over the years I would try extension which didn’t last longer then 6months, hair growth vitamins, and anything else I thought could help. Finally I decided I am just going to cut my hair chin length to get it all one length and I loved it. Easy to maintain and cute.
Oct 2021 came and I had to start taxol. Hair loss is a common side effect so I was ready again. Not upset or sad just accepted that I could be bald again. Almost immediately after starting treatment my hair was falling out it was gradual but i knew I can take control. So I shaved it and it was so empowering. I had to buy lots of hats and @styleesteem to keep my head warm but that was ok. The treatment was more important then my hair. It is keeping me alive and thriving.
Today I have a little peach fuzz with a few bald spots. Because my body has adjusted to Taxol my hair, eyebrows and lashes are growing again. It slow but I’m in no rush. I have my @styleesteem turbans to continue to protect my head from sun and to keep me stylish. It will be interesting to see what my hair is like this time around. #styleesteem #hairjourney #breastcancer #metastaticbreastcancer #baldballerina
