A Week Before Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We are a week away from the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I can’t help but to take a step back and reflect. This week we lost a beautiful person Michael Kovarik due to Metastatic Breast Cancer. And YES men do get breast cancer.

The loss of Michael makes me so angry and frustrated. The past 20 months we have lost a lot of people to Metastatic Breast Cancer. I can’t help but think would they still be alive if Covid hadn’t occurred. Due to the pandemic, trials were put on hold and cancer treatments changed to prevent patients going to a hospital for treatment.

Cancer research funds were diverted to Covid but cancer wasn’t put on hold. Patient’s diagnosis, treatments and overall health were all put on the line. All cancer non profit organizations are now playing catch-up and trying to raise even more money to help researchers continue their work to find new treatments and ultimately a cure.

As October approaches, please do your research and give to organizations that donate 100% of the funds raised to research. Don’t just buy pink. It’s always better to donate directly to the organizations like The Pink Agenda and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
