Howard Country Celebration of the Arts Gala 2016

I am looking forward to attending the 19th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County gala. This black tie event includes delicacies from local restaurants followed by the Rising Star competition for performing artists. The ten finalists will perform and then the audience votes to select the winner who gets a $5,000 cash award. In 2013, I was the lucky winner. The award made it possible for me to move to NYC to join the Joffrey Concert Group. Competing in Rising Star was a wonderful experience for me. The event was very well organized and everyone involved was very helpful. I encourage any performing artist (ages 18-35) with a Howard County, MD connection to consider entering in the future.

A big thank you to Carolyn Rooney Richter Kelemen for giving me the tickets. It will be great to see the event as a member of the audience and to sample the gourmet food offerings before the show. I missed out on the food when I was competing because I had to warm up before the show began.
