Power Port Issues

Yesterday’s treatment was going pretty till my port wouldn’t draw blood. A port is a small device that is placed in my chest to help administer my medicine and draw blood. It worked beautifully in the morning it drew blood for blood work and administered my 3 premeds. But once my nurse went to check it before beginning taxol it wouldn’t draw blood. We did everything from laying all the way back, walking around, flushing, everything you can think of we did. It put us an hour behind. My mom asked if we could just do an IV luckily we could and we got back on track. Our running joke was the cancer cells didn’t want to be killed so it messed with the port. #chemo #breastcancer#metastaticbreastcancer #baldballerina
