Scan Results are In!!

“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” Emily Dickinson

Hope is what helps me deal with bad news like the results of my recent PET-CT scan. The cancer is still active in my spine and sternum and the tiny nodules in my lungs have grown a bit larger. My oncologist recommended I join a clinical trial testing a very promising experimental drug that will be given along with Kadcyla, a drug that has been available for about 7 years. It is a double-blind study so I won’t know if I will get the experimental drug or a placebo. Yesterday, I signed the papers to get started.

When I was diagnosed in 2014, my prognosis was 2-3 years. I prayed that new drugs would become available to help me live longer. I am grateful to have gone 5 ½ years on my 1st treatment line and hope that this new drug will work for me.

Research is the key to keeping metastatic breast cancer patients like me living longer. I am grateful to all clinical trial participants who help to advance cancer treatments and I look forward to my 1st clinical trial.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and support. Please continue to pray that I get accepted into this trial and that I get into the experimental group.
