Today was originally supposed to be my 94th Herceptin/Perjeta Infusion. Because of my progression and some information we have learned about my progression today I am meeting with my oncologist to decide the next treatment I will start hopefully today.

While I was in @disneyland I threw a penny into this beautiful fountain on my birthday. My wish was that my next treatment will make me NED once again and that I will have another 5 1/2 years on my new treatment.

I have some bad news: My cancer has mutated & I’m no longer eligible for the clinical trial I hoped to join.

The good news is there is a new drug Piqray, that works for my specific mutation. Unfortunately, it is very expensive (over $17k per month) so insurance will very likely deny. I’m hoping my doctor will be able to persuade them to pay for it.

Update March 20

Yesterday I got some news about the new drug I will be starting. Insurance will help pay for it! I am so grateful for that. Thank you so much for your prayers and messages of encouragement & support.

Unfortunately this drug can cause blood sugar to rise. This means I need to get blood sugar testing equipment which insurance doesn’t cover. I will be changing my diet to lower my carb and sugar intake as well as tracking my blood sugar levels daily to prevent any serious side effects.

Please pray that this drug will be effective and that my cancer will once again be stable.
